How to Configure a Prompt Tile in K2 App – Complete Guide

This comprehensive guide explains how to configure a Prompt tile in K2 App using the built-in AI assistant.

The Prompt tile allows you to create custom data visualizations by formulating natural language queries, thereby facilitating the analysis of your industrial data.

 

Prerequisites for configuration

Before you begin, make sure to:

  • Be logged into your K2 App environment.
  • Be on an existing dashboard or have created a new one.
  • Have configuration rights for this dashboard.

 

Detailed procedure to configure a Prompt tile

Step 1: Access configuration mode in K2 App

To add or modify tiles on your dashboard, you must first enter configuration mode.

Method A: Using the pencil icon

  • Click on the pencil-shaped icon located in the upper right corner of the main K2 App interface.

Method B: Via the side menu

  • In the left sidebar, find the name of your dashboard.
  • Click on the three dots icon (...) next to the name.
  • Select Configure from the dropdown menu.

 

Step 2: Add a new Prompt tile to your dashboard

  • Once in configuration mode, an add button appears in the sidebar.
  • Click the blue + button (Add a tile).
  • The Choose a Type window appears, displaying all available tiles.
  • Select the Prompt tile (identifiable by a sparkling stars icon).

 

Step 3: Define the data context for the Prompt tile

In the Prompt tile configuration form:

  • Data Type: Choose the primary source for your query.
    • Machine: To analyze data from a specific machine.
    • Variables: To use global application variables.

  • Data collection period: Select the time range for the analysis.
    • Shift: To analyze data from the last shift.
    • Last hour: For data from the past hour.
    • Last 24 hours: For a full day analysis.

Note: Your current K2 App licenses will provide limited or full access to the Prompt tile features.

  • Essential: These licenses allow you to select one machine and display one KPI per Prompt tile. You are limited to one Prompt tile per license.
  • Report and Intelligence: These licenses allow you to analyze multiple machines and KPIs within each created Prompt tile. You can create as many Prompt tiles as you like.

Step 4: Formulate your request in natural language to the AI Assistant

  • Click on the blue Prompt Tile Assistant button.
    The built-in AI assistant interface opens, offering sample queries.
  • In the message bar at the bottom, write your request clearly and precisely. You can use the microphone icon to dictate your query if you wish.
    • Example: Display the availability and performance of my machine with color coding (red, yellow, or green) based on the status of these indicators.
  • Click on the send icon to submit your request.

 

Step 5: Interact with the AI Assistant to refine your tile

  • The AI assistant analyzes your request and generates:
  • A textual response on the left, confirming the creation.
  • A visual preview of the tile on the right, showing the result in real time.
  • Refine the result: If the preview doesn't meet your expectations, continue the conversation with the assistant to adjust the Prompt tile.
  • Examples of adjustments:
    • Change to a bar chart.
    • Add a 95% target for availability.

 

Step 6: Validate and add the Prompt tile to your dashboard

  • Once satisfied with the visual preview, click on Select this version to return to the configuration form.
  • Back in the initial form, click the Submit button at the bottom right of the form.

 

Step 7: Finalize the configuration of your Prompt tile

  • The new custom Prompt tile is added to your dashboard.
  • Exit configuration mode:
    • Click again on the pencil icon to save your changes.
    • Your dashboard is now interactive with the new tile integrated.
